Without the shrill beeping
expected from an ordinary smoke-detector, any situation, be it an emergency or
simply low battery problems, will be reported and explained through alerts(or chirps) from the Canary application on your smartphone.
Accessibility
Instead of alerts sent to a smartphone, users can also be alerted through phone calls, making it “Grandma-friendly”. This accessibility reduces the time required to stop a smoke detector from going off in the case of a non-emergency. Its service is available in English, Russian, Spanish, Afrikaans and Mandarin. Having multiple languages further increases the accessibility of this technology as it allows minorities and people in different countries throughout the world to also use the device.
